Los Angeles-based Sometrics said Monday that the firm has officially launched a new product, Social Ad Manager, which the firm says is designed to help developers and social networking sites optimize their advertising inventory. According to Sometrics, the new tool aggregates both third party advertising and a publisher’s own ad inventory, and allows developers and social networking sites to manage that inventory…. (more)

At the Austin Game Developers Conference today, Intel announced the winners of its third annual Game Demo Contest, which attracted 329 submissions from professionals, students and aspiring game developers from 42 countries. Sponsored by the International Game Developers Association, CMP and Dell, the contest awarded more than $100,000 in cash and prizes to 15 winners across three categories: Best Threaded Game, Best Game on the Go and Best Game on Intel® Graphics. The winning game demos, which take advantage of Intel processing power, tools and development kits, are on display at Intel’s booth (#522). Los Angeles-based Napster and electronics retailer Best Buy said this morning that they have entered into a definitive agreement where Napster will be acquired by Best Buy. According to the firms, Best Buy will pay $2.65 per share in cash for all outstanding Napster shares, or approximately $121M in total for the firm. Including Napster’s current cash and short term investments, the deal has a net value of approximately $54M…. (more)
