Irvine-based semiconductor firm Broadcom Corporation said Thursday afternoon that a federal judge has found Qualcomm in contempt of an injunction ordered against the firm last December. According to Broadcom, U.S. District Judge James V. Selna found that Qualcomm violated an injunction which ordered Qualcomm to cease use and support of WCDMA chips that infringed on Broadcom patents…. (more)

Foothill Ranch-based Aristos Logic, a developer of RAID chips and technology, has been acquired by Adaptec, Adaptec said Thursday. Adaptec said it will pay approximately $41.0M in cash for Aristos Logic, whose ASIC products are used in RAID storage systems. Aristos Logic has approximately 75 employees, and was founded in 2000. Santa Barbara-based BioIQ, a startup providing web-linked health testing services, said this week that it has rolled out a new product targeted at corporate wellness testing. According to the firm, it has rolled out a new generation of the firm’s home health testing programs, aimed at helping companies screen their employees for chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Pasadena-based OEwaves, a developer of microwave photonic filters, has scored a contract to develop filters for military and communications applications, the firm said this week. OEwaves did not disclose the source of the contract, which covers development of frequency agile bandpass and notch filters. The technology is used in military communications applications.
