Newport Beach-based NetworkD, a value added reseller of IT solutions, has been acquired by a new startup, Sparxent. Sparxent, which is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition, but said that it acquired NetworkD as part of the firm’s funding and launch. Sparxent is venture backed by vSpring Capital. NetworkD was a reseller of systems management and service desk software, and was founded in 1996.

Irvine-based Broadcom announced this morning that the firm has acquired AMD’s digital TV business. According to the companies, Broadcom will pay approximately $192.8M in cash in exchange for AMD’s digital TV assets. Approximately 530 employees at AMD’s digital TV team will join Broadcom as part of the acquisition. AMD’s digital TV products include ICs used for DTV processing, receiver ICs, and other processors used for various digital TV functions…. (more)
