Anand Chandrasekher demonstrated a series of Atom based MIDs during his keynote from more than 15 different companies. He welcomed executives from Clarion, Panasonic and Fujitsu who announced that their Intel Atom processor-based devices are coming soon to the U.S. market. Clarion’s MiND, which stands for Mobile Internet Navigation Device, is targeted as the next-generation navigation device with real-time, location-based services and full Internet-based experiences. Panasonic’s Toughbook CF-U1 is the industry’s first Atom processor-based and ruggedized UMPC, and Panasonic’s Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA), based on the Intel MCA platform, is designed for health care professionals. The Fujitsu Lifebook based on the Intel Atom processor and the world’s smallest convertible PC, which is shipping in Asia Pacific and coming to the U.S. and Japan soon. Learn more here.

The veil was lifted off of Intel’s first System on a Chip (SoC) designed for Consumer Electronics (CE) devices, the Intel® Media Processor CE 3100. Based on the company’s popular Intel architecture (IA) blueprint, the new family of purpose built chips are developed for Internet-connected CE products such as optical media players, connected CE devices, advanced cable set top boxes and digital TVs. Previously codenamed “Canmore” the new SoC provides the performance punch and efficiency required for high-definition video support, home-theater quality audio and advanced 3-D graphics, with the performance, flexibility and compatibility of IA-based hardware and software.
