Santa Monica-based online news publisher ContentNext, operator of the paidContent.org and other online news publications, announced this morning that it has been acquired by Guardian News & Media, the news media division of UK-based Guardian Media Group. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Guardian is the publisher of the Guardian and the Observer, two major UK national newspapers. According to the firms, paidContent will continue to be run as a standalone business by founder and editor Rafat Ali and CEO Nathan Richardson…. (more)

Russell Fine is CEO of Opposing Views (www.opposingviews.com), a new startup that recently raised $1.25M from a number of prominent local angel investors. Russell was the founder of Youbet.com, and has been an angel investor himself; we thought we’d catch up with him about his new startup.
What’s the idea behind Opposing Views?
Russell Fine: We’re going to be launching this summer. The plan is to put out a site for consumers, to help them make better informed decisions, quickly. The model is to focus on consumer issues–things people worry about each day, and bring in experts to discuss them…. (more)

The Technology Integration Group, a San Diego-based provider of computer systems integration and IT consulting services, announced Tuesday that it has acquired the Entre Business Technology Group of Atlanta. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1981 and boasting an annual revenue of some $17 million, Entre provides integration services that TIG said complements its own offerings, plus systems security, intrusion prevention, physical access security and video surveillance-over-IP integration services. As a result of the acquisition, TIG has opened a branch office in Atlanta. Entre founder Jim Hindy will head up the new location, TIG said.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp., a developer of manned and unmanned launch vehicles for space exploration, reported Thursday that it has hired Diane Murphy as vice president of marketing and communications. The Hawthorne, Calif.-based company, also known as SpaceX, said the newly created position’s responsibilities include strategic planning, media relations, advertising, video and Web content, exhibits and trade shows, community affairs, event management and serving as company spokesperson. SpaceX said Murphy joins the company after directing communications for Northrop Grumman Corp.’s Space Technology Sector…. (more)
