Cyber-Rain Gets More Funding

Agoura Hills-based Cyber-Rain, which develops a smart sprinkler controller system for conserving water, said Monday that it has scored new investors in a Series A financing. The firm did not disclose the size of the funding, but said the new funding was led by Funk Ventures. Other investors in the firm include Momentum Venture Management and various angel investors. Cyber-Rain develops a hardware device which replaces a standard sprinkler controller, and uses the Internet to pull weather information to adjust watering schedules. The new funding follows a seed round of funding from Momentum Venture Management in June of last year.

eBI Solutions Acquired By IT Firm

Anaheim-based eBI Solutions, an IT consulting firm focused on Microsoft applications, has been acquired by a Arizona firm. Tempe, Arizona-based Ensynch said Monday that it has agreed to acquire eBI Solutions, but did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Both companies provide IT consulting and related services to corporate customers. Ensynch said it will combine its current Southern California operations in Orange County with EBI Solutions. The firm will now serve all of Southern California and the Southwest region, wiht a focus on commercial and public sector organizations ranging from mid-sized to global organizations.

iQ4bis Inks Deal In Philipines

Irvine-based iQ4bis Software, a developer of business intelligence software, has inked a deal with a firm based in the Philippines. iQ4bis Software reported today that it has signed a deal with SmartCubes Inc., a value added provider of technology solutions in the Philippines. As part of the deal, iQ4bis said that clothing provider Fil-Pacific Corporation, which manufactures clothing for Lee, Jag, Tribal Gear and Von Dutch, has implemented its products. The financial impact of that deal was not disclosed.

X1 Technologies Gets Vista Certification

Pasadena-based X1 Technologies, a developer of desktop search software, has gained certification for Microsoft’s Windows Vista, the firm said today. X1 Technologies said that its X1 Professional Client has met all of Microsoft’s standards for reliability and quality for running on Microsoft Windows Vista. X1’s Professional Client is the client software for its X1 Enterprise Search Suite, which is used to index and search for files on desktop computers. X1 is backed by Idealab.

IOGEAR Rolls Out Data Transfer Devices

Irvine-based IOGEAR announced this morning that it has started shipping two new devices designed to transfer data between multimedia devices and computers. According to IOGEAR, its new Universal Memory Banks product connects PCs/Mas and cell phones, digital camera,s and PDAs. The new product include a 56-in-1 Memory Card Reader/Writer which handles multiple format of memory cards and connects to a computer’s USB port, and a 12-in-1 Pocket Card Reader/Writer supporting the most popular multimedia card types. Both products retail for less than $20.00.

CliniComp Hires COO

San Diego-based CliniComp, a provider of clinical documentation systems for the healthcare industry, announced this morning that it has hired Alan Portela as its Chief Executive Officer. Portela joins the firm from Global Care Quest, and has also previously served at Patient Care Quest. Portela has also previously served at CliniComp itself. CliniComp said that Portela will be responsible for the company’s customer support, sales, marketing, and business development. CliniComp develops electronic health record and surveillance software for hospitals and health systems.
