Chip Shot: Intel No. 3 in Harris Reputation Survey

Intel has been ranked #3 in the new Harris Interactive 2007 Reputation Quotient survey. The Harris Reputation Quotient (RQ) measures the reputations of the 60 most visible companies in the United States, polling thousand of American consumers and asking them to rank the companies on 20 attributes in six areas, including: Emotional Appeal, Products & Services, Social Responsibility, Vision & Leadership, Environment and Financial Performance. Intel was in the top 5 in four of those six areas in this year’s survey, which also found that the Technology sector ranked first in terms of an overall positive rating among consumers. HireRight Rolls Out New Screening Offering

Irvine-based HireRight, a provider of software-as-a-service for employee screening, said today that it has rolled out a new product targeted at mid-market firms. According to the company, its new HireRight Professional background screening solution is targeted at mid-sized companies. The new offering comes on top of existing enterprise and small businesses, and includes process automation, online consent forms and support for electronic signatures, links into compliance tools, and more. HireRight’s software manages the background screening process for new employees.

EyeCyte Gets Funding

San Diego-based EyeCyte, a firm developing products for the treatment of retinal disease, said Monday that it has raised a Series A funding round from Pfizer. The deal was worth $3M. EyeCyte said that its technology is based on research from The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla. The firm is developing treatments for retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, retinal vascular occlusive disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinitis pigmentosa.

Jacked Inks Deal With Raycom

Santa Monica-based Jacked, which develops an Internet service which provides information about TV sportscasts, said Monday that it has signed a three-year partnership with Raycom Sports, which markets, produces, and distributes sports programming. According to the firm, Raycom will integrate its SportsTop product within its broadcasts. Raycom produces NCAA Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference college football and basketball games. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed…. (more)

Ex-Intermix Exec Gets $50M For Digital Media Acquisitions

Orange County-based ATCOR Holdings, a new company focused on acquiring and operating high-growth businesses in the online advertising, marketing, and digital media area, has scored $50M in a venture round, according to venture capital firm Austin Ventures. ATCOR Holdings will be headed by Sherman Atkinson, former COO of Intermix Media. Atkinson has also served at Buy.com as COO and President of the firm’s BuyServices subsidiary. According to Austin Ventures, Atkinson will be based somewhere in Orange County, and will evaluate opportunities throughout the United States and Europe.
