Topspin Media Uncloaks Digital Media Firm

Santa Monica-based Topspin Media, a stealth media firm which has been venture funded by Redpoint Ventures and is headed by Ian Rogers, former head of Yahoo! Music, has unveiled details of the firm. Rogers, in a blog post to the firm’s web site Friday, provided further information about the company, saying that the firm is building software tools to help music artists market efficiently. According to Rogers, the firm employs a team of software developers in both Santa Monica and San Francisco, and the firm is planning to show its projects and releases this summer and in the fall…. Hirsch Named President, CEO of Revenue Science

Revenue Science, a provider of behavioral targeting technology for the online advertising industry, said Thursday that it has promoted Jeff Hirsch to President and CEO. Hirsch was most recently President of the firm, which has operations in Seattle, New York, and Santa Barbara, among other locations. Hirsch was previously Senior Vice President of Business Development at ValueClick (Westlake Village), and Chief Revenue Officer at Fastclick (Santa Barbara). According to a spokesperson for the firm, Hirsch will be splitting his time equally between the company’s offices in Seattle, Santa Barbara, and New York. Hirsch joined Revenue Science in 2006.

RazorGator Grabs GM From Orbitz

Los Angeles-based online ticketing marketplace operator RazorGator Interactive, said Thursday that it has further expanded its executive ranks by adding Seth Brody as the firm’s Executive Vice President and General Manager. Brody joins RazorGator from Orbitz Worldwide, where he was Group Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Americas Business Operations. Orbitz Worldwide is the operator of online ticketing web sites Orbitz.com and Cheaptickets.com. Brody has also served at Priceline.com, and netmarket.com/Cendant. The hire is the second high profile hire for the firm in a week; the company said Tuesday that it had hired a VP, Scott Roback, from Yahoo.

Biologics Process Development Acquired By Indian Firm

Poway-based Biologics Process Development Incorporated, a provider of contract laboratory services for the biotechnology industry, has been acquired by an Indian biopharmaceuticals firm, Intas Biopharmaceuticals Ltd. According to the firms, the deal will help Intas Biopharma enter the U.S. market. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Intas Biopharmaceuticals is a provider of biotechnology research and manufacturing in India. Dr. Scott M. Brown, Founder, President, and Chief Scientific Officer at BPD will continue in his position at the firm.

Obagi Taps Iomega’s Romm As CFO

Long Beach-based aesthetic and therapeutic skin medicine firm Obagi Medical Products said Thursday afternoon that it has tapped former Iomega CFO Preston Romm as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. Romm was most recently CFO of Iomega Corporation, before its recent sale to EMC Corporation. Romm has also served as CFO of Dot Hill Systems, STM Wireless, and Verteq, along with serving at MTI Technology, Schmidt & Co., Unisys, and McDonnell Douglas. Romm replaces Stephen A. Garcia, who left Obagi for undisclosed reasons in March.

Escalate Retail Upgrades Eastern Mountain Sports

San Diego-based Escalate Retail, a provider of e-commerce software, said Thursday that outdoor retailer Eastern Mountain Sports has upgraded the firm’s installation of its software. Escalate Retail explained that Eastern Mountain Sports has been using the firm’s software to manage its online operations since 1999; the firm did not discuss the financial arranagement of the upgrade. Escalate Retail’s software is used to manage e-commerce operations.

mobileStorm Adds Video, RSS, Coupons

Los Angeles-based mobileStorm, a provider of digital marketing services and tools, said this week that it has added video broadcasting, RSS marketing, and digital coupon management to the firm’s flagship product. The company, which provides email and mobile marketing services used by businesses to deliver email messages, SMS, and other communications to their customers, said that it has added video broadcast distribution features that will help marketers upload video content to YouTube, MySpace, and other online video sharing web sites….
