La Jolla-based Veoh, a user generated video sharing web site, has cut back some international access to the web site as the firm looks to prioritize its audience and better serve its advertisers. A spokesperson for the firm, Gaude Paez, told socalTECH Monday that the firm has decided to exit certain international markets, to concentrate on the 33 markets that it has its most viewers. Paez said that the markets restricted represent less than 10 percent of the site’s users, and explained that the move would allow it to better invest the costs of video on higher priority initiatives…. Los Angeles-based Opposing Views said today that it has closed a Series A financing round, and raised $1.25M. According to the firm, the funding came from Frontera Group, Gil Elbaz, the co-founder of Applied Semantics; Russel Fine, the CEO of Opposing Views; and other unnamed technology investors. Opposing Views is focused on developing a web site that allows people to get expert answers on politics, health, personal finance, parenting, and other topics. Russel Fine was the co-founder of YouBet.com. Opposing Views said the funding will go to launching the firm’s web site, recruiting its first 100 experts, and for media partnerships.
