Atomkeep Launches Social Profile Synchronizer

Los Angeles-based Atomkeep has launched a new service which allows users to synchronize their profiles between major social networking web sites. Atomkeep said that its service synchronizes between LinkedIn, Facebook, Monster, Flickr, Twitter, Jobster, Blogger, Yelp, Slide, JOBcentral, and Mixergy. The free, Web 2.0-style service, which is in beta, allows users to modify profile information, such as name, address, and other fields, and have those updates show up in all of its supported social networking and other web sites.

ShopIt Adds App For AIM

Los Angeles-based ShopIt, which develops software which allows users to create storefronts for their social networking profiles, said today that it has released a new application focused on AOL’s instant messenger service, AIM. According to ShopIt, its new application allows users to buy and sell goods from the AIM Buddy List; users can select items they’d like to sell and post them to their store for purchase. ShopIt explained that the new software is available for free download at AIM’s web site, and does not cost anything to users of the service. ShopIt’s applications also work on sites like MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, and Friendster.

Epicor, IBM Team on POS Product

Irvine-based Epicor Software has teamed up with IBM on a new point-of-sale product for specialty and department store retailers. Epicor announced the deal Monday morning, saying that its collaborative agreement with IBM includes an offering which will centrally manage and support point-of-sale (POS) hardware and software using IBM’s Remote Management Agent (RMA) hardware. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. Epicor’s software is used by retailers for managing POS, store inventory, warehousing, and financial systems; the firm’s software is being used by such companies as Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor, Zales, and Zumiez.

Overland Storage Buys Adaptec’s Snap Server Line

San Diego-based Overland Storage, a provider of data storage products, said today that it has acquired Adaptec’s Snap Server NAS business, in a deal worth $3.6M. Overland said the deal will add best-in-class NAS and replication solutions to its product line. Adaptec’s Snap Server NAS products are marketed to the small and medium sized business market. $2.1M of the purchase price will be paid in cash on close, with the rest over the next 12 months. Adaptec said that as part of the deal, Overland storage will hire 50 of its employees, who will sublease space in Adaptec’s Milipitas facility…. (more)

Sometrics Signs Up Developers

Los Angeles-based Sometrics, which is developing software for gathering analytics around social networking applications, said this morning that the firm has signed up 1,000 developers for its analytics tools. The firm said those developers are participating in the firm’s beta test. Sometrics’ analytics tools are used to analyze the usage of applications on Facebook, MySpace, hi5, and Bebo. Sometrics is venture funded by the Mail Room Fund, the new investment fund which is headed by Richard Wolpert and which includes William Morris, Accel, and Venrock as LPs; the company’s other investors also include AT&T and Greycroft Partners.
