SheKnows Acquires ChefMom

Los Angeles-based SheKnows.com, an online operator of a number of web sites focused on women, said today that it has acquired ChefMom, an online web site focused on cooking and recipe exchange. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ChefMom provides recipes, interactive shopping lists, how-to-guides, and articles all focused on helping mothers prepare meals. The acquisition follows the purchase of PregnancyFashion.com and CelebrityPregnancy.com last week, and the acquisition of PregnancyAndBaby.com earlier this month. SheKnows.com is owned by AtomicOnline.

EMRISE Buys RF Component Firm

Rancho Cucamonga-based EMRISE Corporation said Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire Advanced Control Components, a New Jersey-based supplier of high performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave devices for the military, aerospace, and other markets. The deal is worth up to $18M in cash. EMRISE is a manufacturer of electronic devices and communications equipment for the aerospace, defense, industrial, and communications market. EMRISE said that it expects revenues from ACC to be worth $17 to $18M in the first 12 months following the acquisition; ACC had revenues of $15.4M for its fiscal year ended June 30th…. (more)

RotoHog.com Names Stark CTO

Los Angeles-based RotoHog.com, an online fantasy sports firm, said Wednesday that Michael Stark has joined the firm as Chief Technical Officer. Stark joins the company from YouBet.com, where he was SVP Engineering & Technical Operations. Stark has also previously served at Edenet Communications, Vertel, BELLSOUTH, and NCR/Teradata. Rotohog operates an online fantasy sports site which offers football, baseball, basketball, hockey, auto racing, golf, and soccer.

MySpace Taps Google For Gears Technology

Los Angeles-based social networking web site MySpace said today that it has linked into search engine firm Google by using the firm’s Google Gears software for its email services. MySpace said it has enhanced MySpace mail using Google Gears, which is Google’s open source project that adds new features into web browsers. Gears adds offline storage and database functionality into Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. MySpace said the install is the largest third-party implementation of Gears. MySpace said the use of the software allows it to add searching via keywords and sorting of email, without requiring the site to add server resources.

Where 2 Get It Gets Win With Razor

Anaheim-based Where 2 Get It, a provider of online product locators for finding retail products, said today that the firm has been selected by Razor, the manufacturer of the Razor scooter. According to Wher 2 Get It, Razor will use its product locator technology to find retaielrs in their neighborhood which carry their products. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Where 2 Get It said that its service allows Razor to track how much traffic and revenue is being sent to retailers, and also allows consumers to search for retailers with specific colors/models of products.
