There’s been a lot of changes in the online video market lately — with everything from studio-backed streaming efforts like Hulu, Apple moving into video with iTunes, to user-generated video sites. That change has made a huge impact on early players in the market like CinemaNow (www.cinemanow.com), a Marina Del Rey-based provider of video-on-demand movies and video. To get some insight into how the market dynamics have changed, we spoke with David Cook, President and COO of the firm, on how the company has adapted.

Los Angeles-based SheKnows.com, a unit of AtomicOnline, said Thursday that it has acquired two pregnancy sites — PregnancyFashion.com, and CelebrityPregnancy.com. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The two web sites both provide mothers with news and trends in maternity fashion and follow celebrity parents. The two sites follow the acquisition of PregnancyAndBaby.com by SheKnows.com earlier this month. According to SheKnows, CelebrityPregnancy and PregnancyFashion fits its core demographic of women ages 25-54. The firm had said it has been planning a number of buys to bolster its pregnancy-related content.

Los Angeles-based EdgeCast Networks, which operates a rich media content delivery network (CDN), said earlier this week that it has partnered with Castfire, which develops tools for editing and managing multimedia. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to EdgeCast, the partnership will allow its customers to edit content, integrate RSS functionality, add advertising, export their content to different devices and format, as well as distribute their content.

San Diego-based DexCom said this morning that it has appointed Jonathan T. Lord, M.D. to the firm’s board of directors. The firm, a developer of a continuous glucose monitoring systems for people with diabetes, said that Lord is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer of Humana Inc. He has also served at Health Dialog, the American Hospital Association, and Anne Arundel Medical Center. DexCom said that it recruited Lord because of his wealth of experience and success in driving growth during his career.
