Los Angeles-based Rotohog, an online operator of fantasy sports games, has added Kelly Perdew as the firm’s CEO, Perdew told socalTECH Friday. Rotohog is venture backed by Allen & Co, Mission Ventures, DFJ Dragon and Sports Capital Partners Worldwide, and provides fantasy soccer, basketball, and other online sports games. Perdew was most recently at ProElite, a provider of mixed martial arts video content and social networking. Perdew is well known as the winner of The Apprentice 2, and has worked with Donald Trump, CoreObjects, Motorpride, and other local firms.

Marina del Rey-based InfoSearch Media said Friday morning that a majority of the firm’s employees and senior management have agreed to take temporary pay cuts. According to InfoSearch Media, a majority of its 25 employees have chosen to take temporary pay cuts of 33 percent to 71 percent in their pay; the firm’s CEO has cut his pay by 71 percent, and the CFO by 64 percent. The firm said the pay cuts were made to help the firm ensure “collective longer-term success.” The company also said it provided equity to the employees as part of the moves. InfoSearch Media provides Internet search marketing, including pay-per-click management and SEO services…. (more)

Los Angeles-based DailyStrength, an online web site focused on online support groups for people facing health issues, and Revolution Health, the online health venture founded by former AOL co-founder Steve Case, said Thursady they are in a strategic sales partnership. According to the firms, Revolution Health will represent “prominent” sections of DailyStrength’s advertising inventory, and also sell sponsorships and strategic ads on DailyStrength. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. DailyStrength is venture backed by Redpoint Ventures, and offers message boards, support groups, user reviews, and other health related information.

Los Angeles-based online advertising representation firm Gorilla Nation said Thursday that it has opened up a new London Office, and hired a UK Sales Director for the firm. Gorilla Nation that JP Kemp has been appointed to lead the firm’s sales efforts in the UK. Kemp joins the company from Freewebs, and also managed sales at Handbag Publishing Group. The firm also has offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Toronto, and San Francisco. The company said it is planning to open other international offices, including one in Sydney, later this year. Gorilla Nation is backed by Great Hill.

Pasadena-based Arrowhead Research, which focuses on nanotechnology technology and other research, said Thursday that it has hired three new executives to the firm. The company said that it has hired Thomas Haag, Ph.D. J.D. as its Chief Patent Officer; Mark Tilley, Ph.D. as VP of Advanced mAterials, and James Hamilton, M.D. as Vice President of Medical Technologies. Tilley joins from DSM N.V., most recently at DSM’s Corporate Venturing investment unit; Haag was an attorney at Kenyon & Kenyon LLP and McDermott Will & Emery LLP; Hamilton was a co-founder at Nanovalent Pharmaceuticals and also served at an analyst at venture firm Reservoir Ventures.

Carlsbad-based life sciences technology firm Invitrogen said Thursday that it has created a new business unit, specifically focused on clinical cell therapy. The new Cell Therapy Systems unit will focus on cell characterization tools for companies and researchers. The area is being applied to wound care, neurological and immune disorders, and cardiovascular disease.

El Segundo-based International Rectifier said Thursday that it has added Mary B. Cranston to its board of directors. Cranston is a Senior Partner and Chair Emeritus of law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. Cranston also served on the boards of Visa Inc., Juniper Networks, and GrafTech International Ltd. Cranston was CEO of Pillsbury from 1998 until April of 2006. International Rectifier is a manufacturer of analog and mixed signal ICs and components.
