San Diego-based Iomega is reporting this morning that it has received a new, revised takeover proposal from EMC Corporation. Iomega, which spurned an EMC offer last week to buy the firm, said EMC has upped its offer to $3.75 per share of its stock for approximately 54.8M outstanding shares. The offer is worth approximately $205.5M. According to Iomega, its board has determined that the revised acquisition agreement would “reasonably constitute a superior proposal” over an earlier agreement Iomega had with ExcelStor Great Wall Technology Limited and its affiliates. The new offer for Iomega is a $0.50 increase over EMC’s last Monday bid for the firm. Iomega said its board, along with its financial and legal advisors, will continue to evaluate the acquisition proposal from EMC.

San Diego-based Staccato Communications, which develops a single-chip, CMOS wireless USB semiconductors, announced a new development kit for the firm’s products Monday. The firm said its new Ripcord1 Development Kit provides a software library and development library that will help accelerate native Wireless USB device designs for its customers. Staccato’s Ripcord products provide CMOS, wireless USB capability for electronic products. Staccato is venture backed by Allegis Capital, Bay Partners, Charles River Ventures, Formative Ventures, interwest Partners, and Vision Capital.

Santa Monica-based Viva Vision, a provider of mobile entertainment content, said today that it has signed a partnership with Univision Movil. According to Viva Vision, it has developed an entertainment slideshow application which displays images form Univision’s content library to wireless handsets, and the companies will develop new entertainment product together. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Viva Vision is venture backed by Equal Elements. Univision Online is the interactive division of Spanish language broadcaster Univision Communications.
