Los Angeles-based AECOM Technology Corporation said Monday that it has completed its acquisition of Newport Beach-based Boyle Engineering. AECOM is a provider of engineering, technical and management support services for the government and commercial customers; Boyle Engineering is an engineering firm focused on the water industry, and employs more than 600 people. The acquisition of Boyle Engineering was originally announced in early February. Financial terms were not disclosed.

North Hollywood-based Digital Union said Monday that it has closed on $1.7M of Series A funding for the firm’s collaboration software. The funding came from an undisclosed list of individual investors, which the company described as a group of “seasoned business executives from the Midwestern US.” Digital Union said the funding will go to expand marketing and distribution of its collaboration technology.

San Diego-based Geary Interactive, a digital marketing agency, said Monday that it has acquired Fathom Online, a search engine marketing and technology services firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Fathom Online is based in San Francisco, and was started in 2002; the firm is venture backed by Constellation Ventures. According to Geary Interactive, Liza Boyd of Constellation Ventures will assume a seat on the board of directors of Geary Interactive. Fathom Online’s Steve Gillan will serve as CFO of Geary; Mihir Choudhary will become CTO and VP of Engineering, and Jinenne Sutherland will serve as reach director at Geary as part of the acquisition.

The 3rd Intel Demo Competition is underway. Intel invites technology demo teams worldwide to submit their best demo to www.intel.de/demoscene. A panel will choose the four best demo teams to compete against STILL, last year’s winner. Teams will be equipped with an Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor based system from Wortmann Terra. San Diego-based Triage Wireless, which is developing medical devices used for monitoring patients via wireless sensors, said today that it has raised $20.3M in a strategic investment round from Qualcomm Ventures. The round also included participation by Sanderling Ventures, 3i Group, and Intel Capital. According to Triage, the round of fudning brings the company’s total raised to $25.8M. Triage Wireless said the funding will go towards commercialization of the firm’s wireless vital signs monitoring system.
